Breakout Performance: Was Bob Nardelli Ever Any Good?

Perhaps this Six Sigma "BS" isn't what it's cracked up to be. All you have to do is look directly at GE to see that. Also follow the career path of many of GE's former executives and you will find where they have distroyed the value of the companies that hire them. I cannot find a "Six Sigma" company that is doing better sence implementing it. Go visit a Home Depot and you can feel the post Nardelli enviornment. The stores are cleaner and the employees care about thier store.

This is how things really work inside GE: Its like a big game of musical-chairs for mangers on the "up-or-out" track trying to stay one step ahead of the axeman.
    1) Managers change locations/organizations a lot, like every 12-24 months.
    2) New manager parachutes in, cuts costs by outsourcing to low cost centers (LCCs).
    3) The next 1-2 quarters show increased profitability, manager is promoted, moves on to next location/organization.
    4) 3-4 quarters later the local staff deals with the mess of under-performing LCCs.
    5) Next manager, seeing the mess, merges with some other internal unit. The merger sets of a flury of distractions that buy time enough for his next promotion.
